Post 1:Intro Post: How I got my WLE: Oct 26th.
So this time to get my internship I went through somebody else so that I wasn't just finding this random place on my own. Micah was telling me how Rosie had a connection to a preschool, so I went to ask her about it. Come to find out Lauren interned there last year and she said that she enjoyed it so I looked into it from there. The leadership skill I used to find my internship was communicate effectively and persuasively. I used this skill by going to Rosie to get the information about the preschool and also by calling the lady and setting up the internship.
My mentor is Mrs. Frances and she runs a preschool in Hayward off of harder. What I'm going to be doing is working with the kids and she said sometimes planning lessons for them to do. Since were going on Friday she said it's going to be the laid back and fun day.

Many people benefit from my WLE. For starters the parents of the children benefit because they are able to bring their kids to a place where its safe and respectable. The teachers benefit because they are able to come to this place where there is no drama and the vibe of the place is positive.I think my work place is good at keeping things organized and running smooth. They all talk to each other and don't let problems hover about. The communication skills at my workplace is the strongest feature. The weakness at my WLE is the way they kind of segregate some teachers.
“POST 4: Friday Dec. 10th, Leadership Skills”
I use the skill Collaborate Productively a lot when I'm working with the kids trying to help them with their art or any other thing they may need. I also collaborate with the other intern there to try and figure out lessons for the kids to do the following week. I use Communicate Powerfully whenever I'm stuck on a task and need help from the teacher I work with. I also just use this skill whenever I feel that the teacher I work with may need help. I am developing in the skill of having to deal with younger children. I'm gaining more patience and understanding of the difficult job of a preschool teacher. I'm using the skill of communication that I learned from Impact. At Impact if there is ever a problem somebody will always be there that you can go to and its the same at my WLE. As a student I am the one asking for help majority of the time but at my WLE I am the one who the kids turn to for help.
“POST 5: Friday Dec. 17th, Hours and Project”
Today at my WLE I did an art project with the kids, helped prepare snack and monitor outside play time. I accomplished...um making stockings? I'm not sure what the question is really asking me. I guess you can say I accomplished building my leadership skills. I'm becoming more open and comfortable at my WLE, which I really enjoy. I'm gaining a lot of people skills which will help me with the profession I want to go into. My essential question and project is all still in progress but I have ideas of what I might do, I just have to get them okayed.
“POST 7: How my WLE project is going”
This week I didn't do much for my WLE. I did more thinking about it than anything but I do know what my project is now. For my project I'm observing what is the best way my kids learn different colors. To do this I am putting down words of objects that are red and all red objects and seeing which one they go to. This is going to help me see which way kids identify with different colors. My plan is to just finish up recording each kid and taking pictures to put in my presentation.
“POST 8: Looking at other people’s blogs”
People aren't really talking about what they do at their internships to me. The blogs are more on reflecting now whether than how their day really went. I read Tera, Jaszi, Alyssa, Zsanae and Julie Galander's blogs. A lot of these blogs were just extra long but I wouldn't say they were more effective than mine. These blogs just reflect more than I do but I like mine short and easy. Many people have done a few blogs but they stopped doing them. I can teach anybody who hasn't done any blogs the secret technique of blogging. My WLE is still interesting and keeps my attention. I think it's still like this because I'm around kids all day and I love it. I want to work with kids when I get older and this internship is really teaching me some basics of working with kids. I did my WLE project which was new but I don't really want to be doing anything new everything is fine.
